Rhode Islanders with a passion for the state – with all abilities as filmmakers -- are sought to compete in the Why RI? video contest, a competition to find the most inspiring stories to illustrate the character, beauty, and strengths of the greatest little state in the union.

The contest seeks quick hitting, memorable videos, in less than 3 minutes, that capture why the filmmaker loves Rhode Island.

What we are looking for short videos (max 3 minutes) that:

Showcase Rhode Island
Show why you are passionate about Rhode Island
Show off wonderful, unique aspects of Rhode Island
Will persuade people that Rhode Island is a great place

What we will be judging on:

Entertainment
Creativity and originality
Relevance to contest theme of “Positively Passionate About Rhode Island”

1st Place

$500 cash prize
Choice of Overnight Hotel Stay & Dinner Package at one of three downtown hotel & restaurant combos
- Hotel Providence & Aspire
- Providence Marriott & Blue Fin Grill
- Providence Renaissance & Temple

2nd Place
Choice of remaining Overnight Hotel Stay & Dinner Package at one of three downtown hotel & restaurant combos (after first place picks, two options will remain)

3rd Place
Overnight Hotel Stay & Dinner Package at one of three downtown hotel & restaurant combos (after first and second place pick, there will only be one package left)

Runner Up:
Gift Certificate for dinner for two at 1149 Restaurant (excluding alcohol)
